Philadelphia has been in control since the early going in New Orleans
The Philadelphia Eagles took a huge lead into halftime of Super Bowl LIX, leading the Chiefs 24-0. Patrick Mahomes threw two first-half interceptions, including a pick 6 to Cooper DeJean, and the Chiefs gained just 23 yards of offense on 20 plays.
In short, the Eagles’ defense completely dominated the first half.
Jalen Hurts was efficient, completing 11 of 15 passes for 123 yards and a touchdown pass to A.J. Brown along with an interception.
The Eagles’ rushing attack didn’t get much going in the first half with Saquon Barkley gaining just 31 yards on 12 rushes and Philadelphia averaging 2.7 yards per attempt on the ground.

Jalen Hurts is named Super Bowl MVP
Jalen Hurts lost his starting job in college. He wasn’t a first-round draft pick. Even after leading his team to a Super Bowl, there were questions how much he could give the Philadelphia Eagles when compared to the NFL’s elite quarterbacks.
On Sunday night, in an emphatic win over the Kansas City Chiefs at Super Bowl LIX, he got his moment. As well as his own personal trophy.
Hurts was named the Super Bowl MVP of 2025 after a 17-of-21 passing performance with 221 yards, two touchdowns and an interception, plus 72 rushing yards and a touchdown on the ground in a 40-22 win.
