In retaliation for former President Joe Biden doing the same to him in 2021, President Donald Trump announced Friday that he is canceling his security clearance and stopping the daily intelligence briefings he receives.
“In 2021, he established this precedent by giving the Intelligence Community (IC) instructions to prevent the 45th President of the United States (ME!) from accessing national security information, which is customary for former presidents.”
Biden refrained from commenting on the move right away. After Trump incited the attack on the Capitol on January 6, 2021, and aided in efforts to rig the 2020 presidential election, Biden terminated Trump’s intelligence briefings.
Biden claimed at the time that Trump shouldn’t receive the intelligence briefings because of his “erratic” behavior. “The Hur Report revealed that Biden suffers from poor memory’ and, even in his prime,’ could not be trusted with sensitive information,” Trump wrote in his post, referencing the special counsel investigation from last year investigating Biden’s handling of secret documents. “I will always protect our National Security — JOE, YOU’RE FIRED,” he said as he concluded his post.
